PURPOSE

The Hunter Family Foundation (HFF) strives to improve lives in sustainable ways by supporting families to access equitable opportunities to learn, play, and grow in their home communities.

PROGRAMS

We are passionate about ensuring that children and families can:

  • Learn and flourish in environments that support their cognitive and social-emotional development and pave the way for fulfilling careers of their choosing.

  • Play in and enjoy vibrant, pollution-free natural surroundings, including green spaces and clean water, to enhance health, well-being, and happiness.

  • Grow and develop through informed, patient-centered healthcare and access to high-quality food.

PEOPLE

The Hunter Family Foundation (HFF), founded in 1993 by Maxine Morrison Hunter and Thomas Benton Hunter III, has grown from a passion for the arts to a broad philanthropic endeavor. Under their leadership, HFF expanded its reach to fund and help lead many community-based organizations, including Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, Ravinia, the Brushwood Center, and the Chicago Botanic Garden. Today, HFF is dedicated to improving access to education, healthcare, economic development, and environmental resources in select communities across the United States, carrying forward the Hunter family's legacy of meaningful impact.
